The management team at VeriCorder brings together unique experience in audio, video, software development, and customer relations.
Jason Neale – CEO, Jason is a serial entrepreneur, having started, grown or turned around 6 companies, with 2 exits and 2 projects still in-progress; all in the software, news, telecommunications and cellular space. Jason is a former Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year (Emerging and National Technology Innovation), a Deloitte Fast 50 CEO, has a PhD in Remote News Gathering via Digital Cellular Networks and an MBA from both Columbia Business School (beta gamma sigma society) and London Business School. Dr Neale has raised more than $30M of funding in his career and presided over triple digit annual growth in several companies (OmniGlobe Networks, Lynx Mobility, TSA and LTeq). Jason was appointed the CEO of VeriCorder in December 2012.
Gary Symons- President and CTO, Gary is an award-winning news veteran, and editor having worked for CBC in Television and radio for 9 years. At CBC News, Gary’s coverage of breaking news often in remote areas with very little broadband coverage lead him to conceive of, and help develop CBC’s first wireless reporting field kit; simultaneously filing stories to radio, television and online news. Seeing a need for a true mobile solution, Gary left CBC, and co-founded VeriCorder Technology in 2008 . Gary designed and led development on the first audio editing suite, the first video editing suite, and the first integrated publishing solution for the iPhone, and the first newsroom management system integrated with mobile devices. As VeriCorder’s current CTO, Gary has become a thought leader in the mobile media industry space.
Bill Green – CFO, Bill is a Certified Management Accountant with nearly 25 years of wide ranging experience in accounting, IT and HR. He began his career in 1988 with Battery One-Stop, a Victoria-based startup that grew from a handful of locations in Canada to over 350 in Canada and the US. A large part of Bill’s career was spent as a Controller at various divisions of Slocan Forest Products where he managed a budget approaching $20M, introduced activity based costing to save around $1M per year and implemented operation-wide networks. While at the Uneeda operation, employment grew from 75 to 225 personnel, and output quadrupled. Bill joined VeriCorder in 2010 and has developed the financial and administrative structures necessary to move the company forward.
Kirk Symons, VP Engineering – Kirk has 35 years of professional and managerial experience in electronics hardware and software technology. He also held managerial positions in LSI Logic of Canada and Nortel Networks. Kirk has been involved in several successful startup companies.
Rob Braun, Projects and Operations Management – Rob has a strong commitment to delivering on our client needs by enabling critical business process. He is an Electronics Engineering Technologist, with previous experience in the forestry industry; designing and deploying production control systems. Rob is responsible for ensuring that R&D and deployment projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to specification. Rob is also responsible for the Quality Assurance process. His role is the interface between our software development process, product delivery, and meeting our business goals.Rob joined VeriCorder in 2009 with the responsibility of leading our Quality Assurance and Customer Support team. His strong performance in that role led to his new role in 2012 to head Project Management at VeriCorder.
The Board of Directors includes CTO Gary Symons; Don Chapman, a US-based investor and financier; and Douglas Symons, CEO of Granite Insurance and Granite Capital of Indianapolis. The board has been working together from the inception of the company in April, 2008.
